HotspotCheck Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
HotspotCheck (“the app”) is an educational Wi-Fi safety advisor. It checks visible safety indicators on the network you are connected to. It is not a security guarantee or professional audit service.
Who we are
The app is published by Random Mini Apps. See the developer website for support.
Data processed on your device
- Wi-Fi name and security details: Shown where iOS allows, typically after you grant location permission while using the app.
- Local network discovery: When you start a scan, the app may discover visible devices and services on the Wi-Fi you are using (Bonjour/mDNS and read-only UPnP/SSDP discovery).
- DNS and connectivity probes: User-initiated checks against well-known test endpoints to assess reachability and visible risk indicators.
- Scan reports: Stored locally on your iPhone when you enable history. You can delete reports from Settings.
What we do not do
- No analytics SDK or third-party advertising.
- No developer-operated backend for scan data.
- No upload of SSIDs, IP addresses, device names, or scan history to our servers.
- No hidden or background network scanning.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive your payment card details.
Exports
If you export or share a report, you choose where that file goes. Exported content is under your control.
Children
The app is intended for general audiences learning about Wi-Fi safety. Users who need parental consent in their region should use the app with a guardian as appropriate.
